Revamped stroke unit opens after £100k bequest

A MODERNISED hyper acute stroke unit has been opened at Harrogate District Hospital, funded by a £100,000 bequest. The unit will feature a telemedicine system, to enable doctors to assess patients who are in other units, via a computer screen. Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust has also established a community stroke team to work with patients when they leave hospital.
LIGHT CRASH: A motorist drove off after hitting a lamp post, causing it to bend so much it nearly fell through the upper window of a nearby property. Police said the vehicle hit the lamp post on Bridge Street, Whitby, at about 6.45am on Wednesday (September 18). Anyone with information should call police on 101, select option 2, and ask for PC Neil Graham or Whitby police.
