New Bedale shoe shop adopts local charity

A NEW shop has marked its arrival in Bedale by adopting a local organisation as its charity of the year.
Footwear boutique Shoeberry, which has opened at 35 Market Place, will be raising money throughout the year for Dales-Care, the local charity offering a place for retired people in the community to meet and socialise.
Its first event for the charity will be an open day on Saturday, September 28, when 10 per cent of the profits from all sales will be donated to the charity.
Shoeberry’s owner, Lucy Carr, said: “When I decided to open the shop in Bedale, I was very keen to work with other businesses and organisations in the community.
“I’ve heard so much about the brilliant work Dales-Care does for the older people in Bedale, and everyone I’ve spoken to there has been very welcoming and helpful. When it came to choosing a charity to support for my first year, it wasn’t a hard decision to make.”
The opening of the shop marks a new phase in the life of Shoeberry, which was previously based in Boroughbridge. After sustained growth, it has now become a limited company, reflecting the popularity of its fabulous yet affordable shoes.
