4:43pm Friday 13th September 2013 in News
MOTORISTS are to face delays as a £61,000 project to carry out work to upgrade the safety barriers on the A66 is carried out.
The Highways Agency is to replace verge-side safety barriers on the cross country route near to Appleby, in Cumbria, in September.
Work will take place at the Appleby by-pass between Tuesday, 24, and Monday, 30, September. The next phase is at Kirkby Thore between Sunday, September 29, and Monday, October 7.
All of the work will take between 9.30am and 3.30pm daily to minimise inconvenience to drivers. There will also be temporary traffic lights in place.
Peter Gee, Highways Agency project sponsor, said: “This is routine work to upgrade safety arrangements along this part of the route as the existing barriers are near the end of their serviceable life.
“The work is taking place along two relatively short sections of carriageway. Temporary traffic lights will be in place to manage traffic safely past the roadworks.”
