THE latest stage school set up by a Birds of a Feather star is about to open its doors to its first cast of budding actors.
The Pauline Quirke Academy (PQA) is being unveiled at Stockton Riverside College, Stockton, between 10am and 1pm tomorrow (Saturday, September 14) when it will be offering free taster sessions to children aged between four and 18 interested in performing arts.
The Saturday morning sessions will teach modules in comedy and drama, musical theatre and film and television as well as give youngsters the opportunity to perform at the prestigious Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End.
’I’m really excited about the opening of the Tees Valley Academy. We hope to offer children in the area a whole new experience in performing arts and to show them what PQA is all about,” said Ms Quirke who, as well as playing Sharon Theodopolopoudos in the sitcom Birds of a Feather, she is also known for her role in the suspense drama, Broadchurch.
By the end of the year 62 PQA academies will have been launched across the UK with classes also held in Durham, Newcastle, York and Harrogate.
