Two men sought after failed gems raid in York
5:24pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in News
POLICE are stepping up their efforts to track down two suspects believed to have been involved in a failed raid on a jewellery shop.
The raid took place at 12.30am on August 24 at Cavendish Jewellers, in Stonegate, York, and detectives have now released CCTV images of the men they want to speak to.
The offenders used a ladder to gain entry to a first floor room at the rear of the property. However, they left empty handed when the security alarm sounded.
Both men were described as in their mid-20s with short dark hair. One was wearing a dark patterned sweatshirt and jeans. The other was also wearing a dark sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms, which may have paint stains on them.
PC Tom Copeland said: “If either of the men caught on CCTV is you and you are not involved in the burglary, I urge you to come forward so that I can eliminate you from my enquiries.
“I also need to speak to anyone who can help to identify the men and as them to get in touch straight away.”
Contact York police on 101, select option two and ask for Tom Copeland. Alternatively information can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555-111.
