Converted church and other historic buildings to open their doors

A FORMER church which has won several local design awards after being converted into a village halll is to open its doors to the public this weekend.
Residents are to open the doors of Dishforth Village Hall for the national Heritage Open Day this weekend, on Sunday, September 15.
The former church was the winner of Ripon Civic Society’s Best Restored Building award in 2011 and it also won an award from the society for its craftmanship.
It has been adapted for the community with the addition of a kitchen and toilets and a restoration.
Other hidden gems open in Ripon for the weekend include the Gazebo, an 18th century garden folly off Blossomgate, the Masonic Hall in Water Skellgate, Ripon Cathedral’s ringing chamber and Ripon Grammar School’s Victorian library.
Admission to Dishforth Village Hall is free and people will be admitted from 2pm until 4pm.
