Shock at sudden death of Whitby teenager

A COMMUNITY is in shock after the tragic death of a young teenager at his moorland home.
Jamie Dobie, a 13-year-old described as a “lovely young man”, died suddenly at his home in a village on the North York Moors.
The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear and a report is now being prepared for the coroner.
Police were called to the scene by the ambulance service at about 5.50pm on Tuesday, September 10.
Paramedics from the air ambulance attended and provided medical assistance but the youngster died a short time later.
Police do not believe that there were any suspicious circumstances and his distraught family are currently receiving support from specially trained officers.
The teenager was a pupil at Eskdale School in Whitby and pupils and staff were said to be shocked by his sudden death.
School head Sue Whelan said: “Jamie was a lovely young man and a popular member of our school community. “We are all shocked and saddened by this tragic event. Our thoughts are with his family.”
