ORGANISERS of the region’s first ever Festival of Thrift are on the hunt for volunteers to help make the event a success.
More than 10,000 visitors are expected at the festival, which will take place on Saturday, and Sunday, September 21 and 22.
Organisers are looking to recruit people to welcome visitors to the event, workshop assistants, crew members and stewards.
Anybody over 18 from Darlington and the surrounding area can take part, and no experience is necessary.
Festival director Stella Hall said: “We’re really keen on getting local people involved in Festival of Thrift. It’s a great way to take part and see how it works behind the scenes.
“Whether you’re in university studying events and want to take part, or live and work in the North-East and want to help out, then we’d love to have you on board.”
The deadline for applications is Tuesday, September 17.
Anyone who wants to take part can fill in an application form on the festival’s website, festivalofthrift.co.uk
The festival is being curated by design legends Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway and will highlight thrifty living as well as promote recycling, upcycling and sustainable living.
A number of attractions will be on offer throughout the event, including an alternative village fete and craft workshops.
