Farmer's daughter granted planning permission
A FARMER’S daughter will be on-site to help her aging father after winning an appeal to build another house on family land.
Sally Thompson - whose father David Thompson has farmed Town Farm in Old Stillington and Southfields Farm in Great Stillington, North Yorkshire, for more than 60 years – was refused permission to build a three-bedroomed house at Southfields Farm.
Stockton Borough Council planners said the extra accommodation, which would allow Ms Thompson to help her father more with the business, was unnecessary.
With the help of North-East planning consultancy Prism Planning, Ms Thompson – who runs the equine element of the farming business – appealed the decision three times and has now been granted planning permission.
The appeal heard that additional accommodation was justified given Ms Thompson’s integral role in the operation of the farm.
