5:34pm Monday 9th September 2013 in News
A SCHOOL that was shut down following last week’s floods will reopen on Wednesday. (September 11).
Officials say all Skelton Primary School pupils can be accommodated despite the site suffering significant flood damage.
Two classrooms and several offices were flooded and there was damage to furniture and flooring.
Joan Guy, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council’s cabinet member for children’s services and education, said: “The school was extensively damaged in the flooding and it was initially feared that we would be unable to reopen it until after half term.
“However, a great deal of hard work has gone on and we are now in a position to open sooner.
“The disruption was unfortunate but unavoidable and we thank parents and carers for their patience.”
There will be limited access to the building from Wednesday.
Parents and carers are advised to refer to the school’s website at www.skeltonprimaryschool.co.uk for details.
