A HELICOPTER crew was scrambled to the scene of an accident in a remote part of County Durham.
A white Mazda MX5 struck a tree near Balderhead Reservoir, near Barnard Castle, shortly before 1pm on Sunday.
A 52-year-old female passenger from North Yorkshire sustained neck and back injuries and as a result a Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) helicopter crew based near Penrith attended the scene.
A GNAAS spokesman said: “The crew assessed and treated the patient before extricating her from the car with the help of the fire service and paramedics.
“Thankfully, her injuries did not require specialist treatment so she was taken by road to Darlington Memorial Hospital in a stable condition.”
