Gallowfields Trading Estate, Richmond, receives security boost
A TRADING estate is to see increased security thanks to a cash boost.
Richmondshire District Council, local businesses, landlords and North Yorkshire Police have been working on the Gallowfields Trading Estate, Richmond, to try to prevent and reduce crime through a series of measures.
And thanks to £5,934 grant from the Richmondshire District Council Communities Opportunity Fund and money from local businesses, the first phase of the new CCTV system and new signage has been installed, and a security guard has been employed to patrol the estate.
The Gallowfields Business Group was established last year to help businesses work together to solve the problems they faced on the trading estate.
“With this grant and the match funding by local business it will hopefully provide the businesses on the estate and their customers the security and peace of mind that they deserve,” said Richmond Town Councillor Stuart Parsons.
Adrian MacDonald, chair of the business group said: “We have had such a positive response from the businesses on the estate. “Some of them have joined the new security scheme including Easby Electronics and Alt Berg but we still need other businesses on the estate to get involved so that we can continue this work and help to reduce and prevent crime on the estate.”
