HISTORIC gems in Stockton are opening their doors to the public as part of a national celebration of the nation’s culture, architecture and heritage.
The Globe Theatre Foundation is inviting people to take a free glimpse inside the town’s iconic Globe Theatre which is undergoing major restoration from Thursday, September 12 to Saturday, September 14.
Heritage Open Days take place each September and allow people behind the scenes to explore historic buildings and monuments – in particular those normally closed to the public on a day to day basis.
On Friday 13 and Saturday, September 14 visitors to Preston Park Museum and Grounds can take a behind the scenes tour of the museum’s purpose-built collections store and meet a member of the collections team.
Each tour at 10am and 2pm lasts 90 minutes and will allow an in-depth look some into the museum’s 100,000-strong collection.
To book a place on the Preston Hall Museum collection tours call 01642-524274, the Globe Theatre short tours will start from 153 Stockton High Street nextdoor on Thursday September 12, Friday 13 and Saturday 14 at 10am. To book a place contact Stockton Central Library on 01642-528079.
