Stockton landlords asked to take part in empty homes survey
OWNERS of empty private homes in Stockton are being asked to take part in a survey to help get them back in use.
From Monday, September, 9, Stockton Council’s Private Sector Housing Team will invite homeowners to take part in their 2013 Empty Homes Survey.
It provides assistance for owners of vacant properties to help them successfully return their homes into use.
Landlords can use the survey to give their views on how the team can improve their services. Owners of unoccupied properties will also receive information and advice to help them find new tenants.
Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Community Safety, Steve Nelson, said: “Empty homes can become an eye sore and attract anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping which impact on our communities. That is why we would like to do all we can to support property owners in bringing any empty homes back into use.”
The Private Sector Housing Team will write to everyone who owns an empty property to take part in the consultation and complete a survey.
Property owners can also fill out a survey online at www.stockton.gov.uk/emptyhomessurvey Everyone who completes a survey by Friday, 18 October will be entered into a prize draw to win £50 worth of B&Q vouchers.
