Parents offered chance to brush up online skills at new One Point Children Centres internet cafes in Teesdale and Weardale
PARENTS with young children are being invited to enjoy a cuppa while picking up vital online skills at new internet cafes.
The venture has been launched at Teesdale and Weardale One Point Children’s Centres and is aimed at mums and dads with children under the age of five who may not be connected to the internet at home.
A series of sessions at the Durham County Council-run centres, starting on Monday, September 9, will give them the skills to tackle online tasks such as job applications, registrations and benefits claims.
Organisers say the sessions could also help parents return to education, training or employment.
At Evenwood Children’s Centre, 45 minute appointments are available every Monday and Wednesday between noon and 1.30pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3pm and 5pm.
A drop-in session is available every Friday between 1.00pm and 4.30pm at Willington Children’s Centre.
For more information, call Evenwood Children’s Centre on 03000-266350 or Willington Children’s Centre on 03000-268445.
