FOLK music fans will descend on a County Durham town for its annual festival this weekend.
The Sedgefield Folk Festival is now in its eighth year and will feature a host of concerts, workshops, singaraounds – and the world spoons playing championships.
Events begin tomorrow night (Friday, September 6) when The Mighty Doonans will headline a concert at the Parish Hall, with support from the John Wrightson Band and Flossie Malavialle.
On Saturday, music workshops will be held at the Ceddesfeld Community Association Hall featuring the ukelele, spoons, Northumbrian pipes and harmony singing.
Ceddesfeld is also the venue for an afternoon of music and song competitions along with the world spoon championships, which are due to start at 4pm.
Later, The Wildcats of Kilkenny will headline a concert in the parish hall, with support from The Jaywalkers and The Young 'Uns.
The festival wraps up on Sunday with a final singaround at the main hall in Ceddesfeld from 11am to 3pm.
Entry is free and there will be a free buffet from noon.
