THE latest in a spate of stone thefts has been reported in Teesdale.
Between August 20 and 22, £150-worth of sandstone was stolen from a farm at Butterknowle, near Bishop Auckland.
The stone was part of a stockpile. Pieces of various size and shape were taken.
Sergeant Simon Rogers, of Barnard Castle Police, said those responsible had taken a vehicle onto farmland to take the stone.
“We have seen quite a lot of stone taken from all over the dale,” he said.
