Stockton to host festival of song, drumming and prayer
THE only Gospel music festival of its kind in the North-East is being held in Stockton this weekend.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God Living Proof Stockton, and Grace Covenant Ministries will be hosting Teesside Gospel Festival (TEGOFEST) in the Parish Gardens, Stockton High Street from noon to 6pm on Saturday (SEP 7).
It is a gospel concert and multicultural fiesta with Gospel singing, drumming, music, dance, prayers, poetry, food, counselling, talks and other “modes of expression of the Christian faith”.
Organisers said the goal was to bring the church out of the four walls and into the community.
Rev Sam Best-Ewruje, (CORRECT) of Grace Covenant Ministries, said: "This event will help the different people from all ethnic and multicultural backgrounds in Stockton integrate and learn more about each other.
"There are no denominational, cultural or ethnic boundaries and we want to see the town's Christians come together, to fellowship with the rest of the community including non-Christians.
“From its little inception in 2007, TEGOFEST has become an annual event and I am looking forward to meeting some old friends and hopefully making some new ones - come one, come all!"
"This is a great opportunity for all to come together in a day of festivities, drumming, prayer and songs."
