A DEDICATED fundraiser set on raising £30,000 for charity by the end of the year has smashed her target already.

Gillian Clason, 32, has been fundraising for children's cancer charities since 2009 following the death of her friend's three-year-old son, Henry Valks, to leukaemia.

Miss Clason, who lives in Croft and works for North Yorkshire Council, has completed numerous marathons and charity cycles and has also organised a fundraising ball to be held at the Mercure Kings Hotel, in Darlington, on November 30.

She had hoped that the ball would help her reach a £30,000 target she had set at the start of the year and is delighted that she has reached the total ahead of the event.

Her fundraising total topped the £30,000 mark thanks to a £7,000 contribution raised through a football tournament organised by Henry’s family.

Miss Clason is now seeking support for the ball in aid of Children with Cancer and is appealing for businesses to donate prizes for the raffle and auction.

Tickets cost £45 to include a three course meal and wine.
