WATER FUN: Visitors to Killhope, the North of England Lead Mining Museum, in Weardale, County Durham, can discover what is living in the stream and reservoir at the museum on Thursday (August 29). A guide will lead a hunt for mini beasts in the river, wellies and a change of clothes required. The cost is £2 per child on top of normal admission, sessions will start at 11am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm, places need to be booked on arrival.

EXPLORER WORKSHOP: A workshop in becoming an explorer will be held at the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, County Durham, on Wednesday (Aug 28) from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Visitors can make a map and telescope inspired by Jeremiah Dixon. Children must be accompanied by an adult for whom normal admission prices apply.

YOUTH MUSIC: The third 3Festival will be held at Glenholme Park in Crook, County Durham, from noon to 5pm on Saturday, September 14. The event, which has been organised by West Durham Youth and Community Resource and the Three Towns Partnership, will be free and will feature local bands, games and activities.
