History lessons on offer at Middlesbrough's Stewart Park

LOCAL history buffs are being offered the chance to take part in more formal research thanks to a new initiative.
The group, meeting at Middlesbrough’s Stewart Park, will visit the local archives and the reference library and learn how to use their facilities.
The course will last ten weeks, from Thursday, September 12 to Thursday, November 21. Sessions will run from 1pm to 3pm. The cost of the course is £53.

CONCERT ORGANIST: A world-renowned musician is to showcase his talents at a special event at Yarm School next month. Concert organists David Briggs will perform at the school on Friday, September 20. The event will start at 7.30pm with tickets priced at £5 for adults and free for children 18-and-under when accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased from Strickland and Holt and Yarm School.
IRONSTONE HISTORY: People are invited to take part in a vigorous eight mile illustrated guided walk along original ironstone miners’ paths. The walk, starting at Eston Hospital site and going up through California to the hills, stops at more than 20 historic sites.
