FAMILIES are being urged to use the new school year as a fresh start to change their lives for the better.
Change4Life, a Department of Health-run initiative to tackle the causes of obesity, is calling on people in Hartlepool to sign up to its “Smart Restart” campaign.
Families taking part in the campaign will be required to select one healthy lifestyle change from a list of five options and adopt it for at least the first six weeks of the new term.
The five options for change include making healthier lunches, switching to healthier snacks, keeping a limit on screen time and taking more exercise.
Carole Johnson, head of health improvement at Hartlepool Borough Council, said: “By the end of summer we can all tend to slacken off a bit and it’s easy to let good intentions slide. The new school year is the perfect time for a new beginning and for the whole family to get fitter and healthier.”
Families can register free for the Smart Restart campaign and download the free app by simply searching for Change4Life on-line.
