Food bank urges clients to be completely honest about their circumstances
A FOOD BANK has urged its clients to be completely honest about their situation so that they can tailor the help they offer.
The King’s Church food bank in Darlington spoke out after claims that they had given a rough sleeper with no access to cooking facilities a package of food that included dried pasta and packet soup.
Food store manager Lisa Marsh urged anyone coming to the food bank to be completely open about their circumstances.
She said: “We have standard bags of food we give out but there are other alternatives available.
“If people tell us they are homeless and have no way of cooking food, we can help.
“We currently support around 30 rough sleepers and we do our best to pick food that is suitable for them.
“We even make sure we give them ring-pull tins because we recognise they probably do not have access to a tin opener.”
