Death of man at Selby dam not suspicious
Not suspicious: The death of a man whose body was found in the water at Selby dam last Sunday morning is not believed suspicious, police say. However the man, in his 20s and thought to be local, has still to be identified.
Baby alarm: A bag of baby clothes sparked an alert after it was reported to police as a suspicious package left outside the Post Office in Lendal, York, on Monday afternoon. Police said the call was made with good intent.
Hospital work: More than £120,000 worth of improvements have been carried out at St Monica’s Hospital in Easingwold thanks to funds donated by the hospital’s League of Friends and investment by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Taste award: An ice-cream flavour inspired by York’s confectionery history has been shortlisted for a national award. Chocolate orange ripple, made by family firm Yorvale at Acaster Malbis, near York, is on the shortlist for the Taste of Excellence Award in Dairy at the Cream Awards next month.
