ALTHOUGH the egg and spoon race and fancy dress dash may not yet be Olympic events, children at a farm-based nursery near Darlington have proved the future is bright for British sport.
Children at High Bank Day Nursery, in Stapleton, recently took part in the nursery’s annual sports day.
With the sun beaming down, the youngsters took part in a number of fun events at the nursery grounds.
They also did not allow their parents to just watch from the sidelines, with a three-legged race for adults also being staged.
After the sports day, the children all received a medal and some treats.
High Bank manager Jennifer Thompson, said: “There were some very competitive people taking part, and that was just the parents.
“The children had a great afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the sports day. Who knows, we may have been looking at a future Mo Farah or Jessica Ennis-Hill in the making."
