Skelton councillor's plea to Arriva for more buses for big day out
A COUNCILLOR has criticised the region’s biggest bus provider for not supplying extra buses to villages for a major event.
Coun Walsh said: "It is a pity, therefore, that Arriva's much vaunted special late night services ignore everywhere west of Loftus.
"These late night buses are a lifeline for people who want a day out.
"Obviously, it is too late to do anything this year, but I will be writing to Arriva to suggest that next year they extend the late night service through to Guisborough, so as many local people can benefit."
Nick Knox, area managing director for Arriva North East said: “The extra evening services for Whitby Regatta were introduced on a trial basis last year and we are continuing to assess the demand for these services.
"We promoted the extra services in the lead up to the event and we received no comments, either from Coun Walsh or our customers, that an extended service could possibly be required.”
