TICKETS for a recently built 800-seat theatre have now gone on sale at a well-known Yarm high street coffee shop.

Strickland and Holt’s – a familiar presence on Yarm high street for more than 150 years and has been recently refurbished – is now selling tickets for productions at Yarm School’s award-winning Princess Alexandra Auditorium.

Tickets will be on sale at the Princess Alexandra ticket office, situatued within the store, to allow greater access to tickets and hence help boost ticket sales.

Stephanie Richardson, owner of the shop, said: “This will give more people the opportunity to see some great productions, including David Briggs, the world-renowned organist, who performs at the school in September.”

The headmaster of the school, David Dunn, is also enthusiastic about the joint venture. “The ticket office will allow greater access for the community to see both the school’s productions and external events held at our fantastic auditorium,” he said.

The theatre, opened by Princess Alexandra last April and winner of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) North East Award 2013 award, will also be playing host to other upcoming events. Among these, a performance by the Military Band on Friday September 6 and a Joe Cornish lecture and gallery evening on Sunday November 17 are planned.
