FIRE crews from Northallerton were called out at 8.30pm on Monday after reports of a bush fire at Cod Beck Reservoir near Osmotherley.
They used one hose reel to put out the fire which is believed to have been started deliberately.
It had spread to cause damage over ten metres by two metres.
Appeals have been made for any information and particularly anyone who saw people acting suspiciously in the area before the fire was reported is asked to contact the police.
