POLICE have named a 53-year-old cyclist who died in a rush-hour collision in Darlington last week.

Michael Severs died after the bike he was riding collided with a parked car, in the town’s Carmel Road South, at about 8am, on Friday (May 31).

Mr Severs, who was from the Blackwell area of Darlington, was married with two grown-up children.

He was airlifted to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, following the crash, but was confirmed dead on arrival.

The rear windscreen of the car was smashed in the incident, which led to the road being closed for two hours.
