Barnard Castle to host one of the region's biggest vintage fashion sales
FABULOUS fashions dating back to the Victorian era will go under the hammer next month at one of the largest vintage clothing auctions ever to take place in the North-East.
The sale, at Addisons Auctioneers in Barnard Castle, County Durham, will feature hundreds of garments, shoes and accessories, including many designer pieces and vintage furs.
The collection, which dates from the late 1800s to the 1980s, belonged to the late Anne Robson, of Robsons Antiques in the town.
Mrs Robson, who died in November aged 60, was passionate about clothes and opened a boutique in the Mission Hall Antiques Centre in Barnard Castle in 2007.
Lorraine White, who worked in the boutique alongside Mrs Robson, joined Marella Darvill from Addisons to sort through the clothes.
“It really is a fantastic collection,” said Ms White. “Anne loved clothes, especially shoes - she had hundreds and hundreds of pairs!
“She was very well known in the antiques trade and attended auctions across the North-East to buy stock.”
The sale, which takes place at noon on Saturday, April 13, at Addisons Auction Rooms on Staindrop Road, will feature 500 lots, many of which with starting prices of just £20.
Viewing is available on Friday, April 12, from 9.30am to 7pm, and from 8am on the morning of the sale.
The catalogue will also be available at addisons-auctioneers.co.uk and fashion fans can bid in the auction online at the-saleroom.com
