Advice for shoppers after spate of purse thefts
12:02pm Tuesday 19th March 2013 in News
SHOPPERS in Darlington have been warned to be on their guard after reports of a number of purse thefts in the town centre.
A number of the incidents have taken place when the victim left their handbag unzipped, leaving the purse easily accessible.
Police have issued advice for shoppers to keep their belongings safe, including:
- Keep your bag closed and close to you, if possible with the opening towards your body
- Close your purse and put it away before you leave the till. Try not to overload yourself with bags and coats
- Avoid carrying your wallet or purse in a back trouser pocket. Keep cash secure and out of sight.
