Open mic night at Butterknowle Village Hall

OPEN MIC NIGHT: Butterknowle Village Hall is hosting an open mic night on Sunday, March 31, from 7.30pm to 11pm. Admission is free, a bar and refreshments are available. All genres of music are welcome, or people can just go along and listen to what's on offer.
FROG RACING: Gainford Village Hall is to be turned into The Lily Pond for an evening of wooden frog racing, organised by St Osmund's Catholic Church, on Friday, March 22. Tickets, priced £8, include a fish and chip supper. Doors are open at 7.30pm with the first race at 8pm. For more details and tickets, contact 01325-241262.
ANNUAL MEETING: The annual general meeting of Gilling West Village Hall takes place on Wednesday, March 20, starting at 8pm. The future of the hall will be discussed as will the vacant secretary's post.
MP SURGERY: Bishop Auckland MP Helen Goodman will hold a constituency surgery at Woodleigh, Flatts Road, Barnard Castle, on Friday, March 22, from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
SUPPER DANCE: Newsham Village Hall is to host a supper dance on Friday, March 22, starting at 8pm. There will be dancing to Dennis Westmorland and all profits will go to local charities. Tickets are £6 – contact Christine Duke on 01833-627008 for further information.
CASHING IN: Singer Dean Owens presents “Songs I Learnt from Johnny Cash” at the Mickleton RnB Club on Saturday, March 23. The show takes place at Mickleton Village Hall, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 and include an American-style supper.
