Teenager aiming for silverware in national football final

A TALENTED young footballer is hoping to pick up some silverware when he plays in the final of the English Schools’ Under 18 Inter County Trophy.

Teesside High School student Ben Goodchild will be representing Cleveland County when he pulls on his boots to play Sussex at MK Dons ground next Wednesday (March 20).

The 18-year-old, in his first year at the school, is confident that the team can overcome the team from a much larger county.

The teenager, who lives near Northallerton, said: “The school has been really supportive especially as it has just started getting boys teams up and running. I’m really looking forward to the final next week and believe we are in a good chance of winning – you have to play with that kind of winning mentality don’t you.”

The game kicks off 1pm at the Stadium: MK (CORR).
