Bikers using nature reserve face £500 fines

COUNCIL leader Bill Dixon has pledged to enforce £500 fines for motorcyclists caught riding on a Darlington nature reserve.

Signs around the Maidendale Nature Reserve in Firthmoor state that motorists caught driving on the land could be fined up to £500, but it is unclear whether any of the off-road bikers caught there over the years have ever been asked to pay up.

In a recent crackdown, police issued warning notices to several motorcyclists at the reserve and Coun Dixon was asked at today’s (Wednesday, March 13) Eastbourne Pact meeting whether any of them were fined the £500 under the council’s own by-law.

Coun Dixon said he would find out, adding: “If the fines have not been happening; they soon will be."

Note to Northern Echo... These are not "BIKERS" as you describe in the heading, do not confuse them with real "BIKERS". These are "CRIMINALS" breaking the law. Please report the facts only not just your ideas. Unless of course you know for sure that these are bikers in which case you must also know who they are, so get them arrested.
Getting tired of reading false reports in this so called newspaper.
