5:41pm Tuesday 12th March 2013 in News By Joanna Morris
POLICE are appealing after a road rage incident in Darlington.
The incident on Friday involved the victim and the passenger of a car travelling the opposite way on Nunnery Lane, Darlington.
The man had left his vehicle – a green Honda Civic – to talk to the driver of a burnt-orange coloured Vauxhall Corsa, when a passenger travelling in the Corsa approached him and grabbed him by the throat before throwing him against the side of the car.
The attacker then snatched the victim’s keys from his ignition before the Corsa driver approached and warned him not to do anything else. The victim took the opportunity to escape.
The assault happened outside Carmel Convent at around 2.40pm. Following the incident, the Corsa was driven off along Nunnery Lane in the direction of Carmel Road North.
Police are looking for two suspects in connection with the attack. The passenger is described as white, in his 40s and of medium build. He was wearing a jacket and tracksuit bottoms. The second suspect is a white male in his 20s who was wearing similar clothing. The men bore a resemblance to each other and it is believed they may be father and son.
Any witnesses or anyone information about the incident should contact PC 2522 Kate Ward on non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
