Community representative needed for children's committee
3:15pm Tuesday 12th March 2013 in News
A VOLUNTEER is needed to take up a place on a committee looking out for the needs of young people in Darlington.
Darlington Borough Council’s children and young people’s scrutiny committee has a vacancy for a community representative and is looking for a person with some knowledge and or experience of children’s matters or an interest in educational conditions in Darlington.
The scrutiny committee considers issues relating to adoption services; youth offending services; anti-social behaviour; family intervention; disabled children and special needs, among other subjects.
Councillor Eleanor Lister, chairman of the scrutiny committee, said: “Community representatives provide an essential service to the committee in that they provide the voice of the community.
“It is a very worthwhile role to take on as it gives local people the chance to take part in local democratic processes and to learn more about what is happening in their community regarding young people. There is a commitment of time but this is rewarded many times over by the involvement in this work.”
For more details or an application form, write to Democratic Services Section, Resources Group, Town Hall, Darlington DL1 5QT or call Allison Hill or Karen Graves on 01325-388291 or e-mail Allison.Hill@darlington.gov.uk
