Concern over anti-social behaviour in Barnard Castle town centre
3:37pm Monday 11th March 2013 in News By Stuart Laundy, Reporter (Barnard Castle & Teesdale)
ANTI-SOCIAL behaviour and underage drinking have been flagged up as problems in Barnard Castle town centre.
And just days after the issue was raised at the town's Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting, a window at a cafe in Galgate was smashed.
Police say a youth has since been arrested, thanks to information passed on by members of the public.
At last week's PACT meeting, concerns were voiced about anti-social behaviour and underage drinking in the Scar Top area next to the castle.
This comes on top of earlier concern about the grounds around The Bowes Museum being used as an underage drinking den.
Police say they will make the Scar Top area a priority for the coming month, while continuing to monitor the situation at The Bowes Museum grounds and nearby Newgate.
