Arriva bus and HGV among those involved in nine-vehicle accident on A174

UP to nine vehicles were involved in a smash on the A174 in Teesside this morning.
The A174 eastbound towards Redcar is still closed after the collision on the sliproad off the A19.
Several roads in Thornaby and Yarm were said to be gridlocked as a result of the road closure following the accident just after 7am.
An Arriva bus, a lorry and a Ford Focus were among those involved.
A man had to be cut free from the Focus after his car became stuck between the lorry and the bus.
The driver of the lorry and the Focus driver were both taken to hospital. It is not yet known how serious their injuries are.
