Darlington homes affected by burst pipe see water supplies return
8:30pm Sunday 10th March 2013 in News
By Dani Webb, Chief Reporter (South Durham)
WATER supplies to residential properties in Darlington are expected to be reconnected within an hour.
A small number of homes were affected after an 18 inch diameter pipe burst in Parkside this afternoon.
Police closed the flooded road as firefighters pumped water away from homes.
A spokeswoman for Northumbrian Water said all properties should be reconnected by 9.30pm, although pressure may be low for a short time and the water may initially be discoloured.
She said: "We have had a 18 inch diameter pipe burst in Parkside.
"We cut off the supply quite quickly and although it does not supply properties directly it did disrupt the network.
"We would like to thank people for their patience as we appreciate Mother's Day is not a great day for a burst pipe."
Work is taking place tonight to restore the broken pipe.
