York woman in hospital after suspected murder attempt

A WOMAN is in hospital with serious injuries and a man has been arrested following an incident at a house in York.
Police are now carrying out door-to-door enquiries in and around Burdyke Avenue, where the disturbance took place at about 9pm on Saturday. (March 9)
A 27-year-old man was arrested at the house on suspicion of attempted murder and is now in police custody for questioning. The woman, who is in her 20s, sustained serious injuries as a result of an assault and was taken to York District Hospital for treatment.
Detective Inspector Shaun Page said: “We believe that neighbours or passing members of the public may have seen or heard a disturbance at the property prior to the assault, or as the woman was being assaulted."
