Weather fails to dampen spirits at market

WINTRY conditions did little to dampen spirits at Saltburn’s first Farmers’ Market of the year at the weekend.

Thousands of shoppers braved the seaside showers and bracing temperatures with stallholders reporting another busy day.

Lorna Jackson, market organiser, said: “This reminds me of our first ever market back in an Easter blizzard in 2008.

“Just like then, we’ve been hopping around all day trying to keep warm. But yet again, we’ve had another really busy and enjoyable day.

“It’s been wonderful to see all our stallholders back together and meet all our customers again.

“It’s always great to see so many people who share our passion for good, locally-produced food and it’s set us up very nicely for the rest of the year.”

Saltburn Farmers’ Market returns on Saturday, April 13.
