Popular Darlington restaurant relaunches with charity night

A LIVELY EVENING was had at the relaunch of a popular Darlington restaurant on Friday (March 8).

Ochis, near Bondgate, operated as a Caribbean restaurant for 13 years but has now re-launched with a tapas and grill theme.

To celebrate, owner Dennis Brooks invited friends, family and supporters of the business to join him at a fundraising evening at the restaurant.

The evening, which featured live saxophone music and wine tasting, also offered guests – including coaches from Mowden Park rugby club, whose under-11 team is sponsored by Ochi’s - the chance to sample dishes from the new menu.

The menu has been redesigned to offer a wide selection of tapas and grill food, but Mr Brooks is keen to reassure customers that old Caribbean favourites like jerk chicken will still be available.

Mr Brooks said: “We held the evening to celebrate our change of direction, but also to show that we are here to be a part of the local community and to give something back.”

The evening, which was attended by around 90 people, raised around £170 for St Teresa’s Hospice, in Darlington.
