HARDY WALKERS braved the rain to raise money for Comic Relief on Saturday (March 9).

Sporting red noses in support of the charity, walkers set out on a hike around Rockcliffe Hall’s 365 acre estate, in Hurworth near Darlington.

The Nordic walk –in which participants use specially designed poles to achieve a more intensive work out - was hosted by the resort’s fitness co-ordinator and Nordic walking instructor Peter Bell. It covered around two-and-a-half miles and was suitable for all levels of fitness.

Mr Bell said: “Nordic walking is great fun and we thought this might be a more unusual way to support Comic Relief. Fundraising using fitness not only raises money for a good cause, but also encourages people to get active.”

The relaxed walk around the grounds of the five star estate was followed by hot chocolate and biscuits for all participants.
