Brompton Village Hall committee fight to save village hall from inside out.

PLANS to rebuild a village hall from the inside out will be unveiled to the local community in a bid to save it from ruin.
Brompton Village Hall Committee is urging residents of the village, near Northallerton, to get behind the unusual project which has already started to rebuild the structure of the hall from the inside.
A public consultation will be held on Monday (March 11), with plans available to view between 2pm and 5pm, followed by a public meeting from 6pm until 8pm.
Committee member Barbara Slater said: “We don’t know how much funding we will be applying for yet as we do not know what the public want from the hall.”
Shaun Lincoln from Lincoln Builders in Northallerton said: “The timber structure inside the hall had weakened significantly over the years as it was built in 1875.
Mr Lincoln constructed a new timber frame and erected it inside the Victorian hall, with the view to make it structurally sound before carrying out other work when funding can be sourced.
Roger Hansom of Hansom Architects in Northallerton is heading the project.
“There is no insulation in the roof or walls, and because of the way it has been extended over the years there is only one entrance and exit at the front.
“The work to rebuild the exterior of the building will have to be done with the co-operation of the neighbours of the building because it will fall on their land.”
The meeting will be held at the village hall in Cockpitt Hill, Brompton.
