Attempted robbery in Hartlepool

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY: Cleveland Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a man attempted to rob a woman in the street. The 22-year-old woman was walking along Lowthian Road at around 9pm on Monday 4th March when she was approached from behind by a man who put his hands in her pockets. The man is described as 5ft 6ins tall, aged in his early thirties, of skinny build with short stubble over his face. He was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit top which had a lighter coloured hood with two white stripes across the front and light blue denim jeans. Any witnesses to the incident or anyone with further information is asked to contact DC Christopher Bryan of Hartlepool CID on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
ST PATRICK’S FUN: People are invited to go along to the St William's Community and Social Centre, South Avenue, Dormanstown, near Redcar, on St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday March 17. From 7.30pm to 11pm The Endeavour Ceilidh Band will be appearing, there will be an Irish music disco and bingo. Advance tickets are available from the centre or pay at the door. Admission is £2.
BOOK FUNDRAISER: Busy bookworms from the Wilkinson store in Captain Cook Square, Middlesbrough, have raised more than £2,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) by hosting a second hand book sale in store. Each donated book was sold for between 50p to £2 to raise money for the store’s regional charity of the year. They are now appealing to customers to kindly donate more of their used and unwanted books to keep the sale going and raise even more money.
CAREERS DAY: The Sixth Form Experience in Normanby is hosting a University and Careers Convention next week to make local students aware of their future prospects. From 9am on Wednesday March 13, representatives from successful businesses and universities will be on site at TSFE to present their institutions to young adults from across Middlesbrough. CRAFTS GALORE: A bumper craft fair is being held on Saturday (March 9) from 10am to 3pm at Guisborough Parish Hall, Bow Street. There will be a wide variety goods and refreshments.
