EXPERIMENTAL rock band Spiritualized have been added to the line up for Teesside's biggest outdoor music festival.

The platinum selling act, fronted by Jason Pierce - also known as J. Spaceman - will support Primal Scream on the main stage at the Stockton Weekender, taking place on Saturday and Sunday July 27 and 28.

Saturday will also see Dublin’s Kodaline and the "flamboyantly entertaining" King Charles perform to fans at the festival, based at Stockton's Riverside.

Kodaline, whose breakthrough track All I Want, was featured in American television drama Greys Anatomy at the end of last year, have been tipped as a "one to watch" in 2013.

Joining Dexys and The Proclaimers on the Sunday are Dutch Uncles, whose brand of new wave pop has been compared to both Hot Chip and Talking Heads.

Ciara Johnson, of organisers Tees Music Alliance said: “We’re really excited by the wave of new bands we’ve confirmed.

"The quality of artists we’re bringing to Teesside gets better every year and it’s coming across in how quickly tickets are selling.”

Tickets are on sale now at Early Bird prices - £25 a day, £35 for the weekend and £70 for camping.

Ticket prices will increase in price from 1 May onwards.

As in previous years each adult ticket entitles the holder to two free under 14s tickets.

Tickets are available online from www.stocktonweekender.co.uk or call 01642-606612.
