Belly Buster Club launched at Hudswell pub.

A PUB landlady has launched a weight-loss support group to help residents of a village in a “belly-buster challenge.”

Jackie Stubbs, landlady of the George and Dragon in Hudswell, near Richmond, said she and two other staff members took up a similar challenge in 2001 and she lost six stone in nine months – but says the pounds have been creeping back on.

“I am starting the G&D Buddy Belly Buster Club on Monday, March 11 in the pub at 7.30pm, and then will hold a meeting every other Monday until late July,” she said.

“It will be a support group for people who want to follow a high protein, low carbohydrate diet, but I advise people to check with their doctor beforehand, especially if they are diabetic.

“In 2011 from 17st 9lb down to 11st 7lb - a size 24 to size 12 - but since then I have gained the weight quickly putting on nearly four stone in as many months.

“Dieting with a friendly group makes it much easier as you don’t feel like you’re doing it alone – and each member will be given a number for weigh-in days so it will be anonymous.”

Ms Stubbs said the pub will also have new items on its menu to help those wanting to eat out but watch their waistline.

The sessions will be £2 to cover administrative costs. For more information call 01748-518373.
