Darlington schoolboy wins cross-country championships

A DARLINGTON schoolboy has won an inter-school cross country race on his third attempt, after previously finishing second.

Stefan Hornsby, 11, is a keen runner who took up the sport at his school, West Park Academy.

He now runs for the Darlington schools team and took part in the Inter-School Cross Country Championships, facing athletes from schools across the Tees Valley.

Stefan had run in the event twice before, finishing second on both occasions, but this year he finished first in the one mile race for his age group.
