Army medics to get freedom of city

ARMY medics will march through the streets of York with bands playing when they receive the Freedom of the City in honour of their decades of lifesaving in conflicts across the globe.

The parade begins at 11am on Saturday, March 9, when 55 soldiers from 34 Field Hospital will form up in Duncombe Place before marching through the city accompanied by the Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band.

The parade will march along Duncombe Place, Blake Street, Parliament Street, High Ousegate, Spurrier Gate, Coney Street and past the Mansion House where military and civic dignitaries will then take the salute as the troops march past. The medics will then return to Duncombe Place via Blake Street.
