Child attack: A 26-year-old woman has been charged with assaulting a four-year-old girl in York city centre on February 15. She will appear before local magistrates on March 19.

Schools payout: Education bosses in York paid out almost £70,000 in minor injury claims following school accidents over the past four years. Claims were made by pupils, parents and staff who had injured themselves and the nature of the injuries included strains, sprains, broken bones and cuts and bruises.

Jockey centre: Plans for a multi-million-pound centre in Malton to treat injured jockeys are expected tp0 be approved next week. The Injured Jockeys Fund wants to build its second rehabilitation base in the UK, and its first in the north, next to Malton and Norton Rugby Club in Old Malton Road.
